Last weekend we were lucky enough to play at River Cottage HQ, Axmimster, Devon for Richard and Amy’s wedding celebration.
Jules and Andrew were invited to play some acoustic music for the wedding ceremony – which was held outdoors. Luckily the rain held off and the sun shone….we played some mellow jigs (Haste to The Wedding!) as the crowd assembled. Then in the middle of the ceremony Andrew played acoustic guitar to back Karen (a friend of the bride and groom) singing the lovely traditional folk song “Sweet Nightingale”…Then at the end of the ceremony we played (and sang) the Townes Van Zandt song “If I Needed You”, which we had learned especially for the day. What a great song…look out for it at our gigs soon.
Then we got to eat(!) (River Cottage food…amazing!!).
In the evening, together with Marcus and our caller Gil, we played a barn dance to get all the guests up and grooving. A great day (and night!).
