A couple of weeks ago Paddy’s Whiskers were lucky enough to be asked to play for Tom and Erica’s wedding celebration at The Mill End Hotel near Chagford.
In the afternoon, Andrew and Jules played a selection of acoustic music for the wedding ceremony and reception in the beautiful gardens.
We have some great tunes that we play on fiddle, mandolin and guitar whilst guests assemble…and a lovely jig called “Haste to the Wedding” that is perfect as the bride walks up the aisle. Then we played a mellow set of sparkly tunes as the bride and groom signed the register, followed by an hour or so more of music for the drinks reception. Of all the gigs we get, playing acoustic music for ceremonies has to be one of our very favourite…the atmosphere is always so lovely and we feel privileged to be part of such an important moment.
In the evening it was full power barn dance time, Marcus (percussion, guitar, vocals, songwriting) and Ali (our brilliant caller) arrived in plenty of time to set up the band equipment indoors…and although the space at we played in was “compact”, the crowd were tremendous and the party rocked.
We received a lovely email from Erica after the day….
Hi Andrew,
I just wanted to say a big thank you to you and everyone else in the band for playing at our wedding last Saturday. Everyone commented on how much they liked it! The acoustic music out in the garden was absolutely beautiful and the dancing in the evening was great fun!
My dad was over the moon to hear ‘whiskey in the jar’ I don’t think I have EVER seen my mum and dad dancing, so that was a first for me!
You were all amazing and the caller did a fab job getting people to dance in that hot, tiny space!
